Great post chip I really enjoyed reading it. My favorite line had to be: Now more than ever it’s critical to make your users fall in love with your site. That could not be more true. I am new to the whole blogging thing so I that is one of my main goals!!!

Hi Chip,

Great advice here for newbies and seasoned pros alike. Keyword research is one of the best possible uses of our time, but it also is important to create a relationship with your site visitors.

Since I've been blogging it's been a big surprise to me when people actually know me due to the content I produce, and the videos they watch. It's really cool to join a group and have others who already know and like you welcome you into the group!

Call to action is something that I sometimes fall short on. I've come to realize how important this is, and am beginning to get better at it. If we don't give our visitors clear instructions about what we would like them to do it may never occur to them to do it, whereas they are often quite happy to follow instructions when they're made clear.

Great job on your blog...looking forward to getting to know you well!

Chip - very interesting coverage of a complex topic. You've certainly made me do some self-analysis however and thanks for that. You mentioned the pack of websites competing for people's eyeballs. That's what makes all this so difficult for newbies to internet marketing. The moment some niche becomes popular it becomes flooded with opportunity seekers. But people like me don't come with huge PPC budgets or sufficient spare funds to outsource all the nuts & bolts site stuff. Let alone enough spark left to come up with creative content.

Hi Chip,

As a newbie, I really appreciated all the knowledge you gave here about drawing customers to your site. Like Darlene, I appreciated the different tools you mentioned as well. I now know that I need to pay an enormous amount of information to the keywords I use. Thanks again.

Chip,
Thanks for listing several additional tools to use for keyword research. And your definition as a "blinking beacon" will definitely stand out in my mind. It is so easy to get caught up in writing an article and cast keyword research aside. You've created a great reminder to put it first in the creative process!
